The theft of the 2000 election convinced me that this country's agonizing deficiencies could not be solved within the prevailing political framework. The left perspective, expressed by such writers as Chomsky, Parenti, Zinn, Paul Sweezy & William Blum make it possible to understand why this is so. Megan just alluded to a connection between refugee camps and shopping malls. There's a lot more to that than most Americans are led to believe.

The more one learns of real US history, the clearer it becomes why an honest rendering of it remains hidden for most Americans: we have a lot to hide, and a great deal of wealth depends on keeping it hidden.
